Mr. Thamer S Al Sharhan

Chairman of the Board

A professional Engineer , with over 3 decades of diverse management & leadership. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Al Sharhan was Managing Director of ACWA Power; President and Chief Executive Officer of Marafiq; the principal utility company serving the cities of Jubail and Yanbu.

His career began at SABIC where he rose to become President of Saudi Petrochemical Company (SADAF), President of SABIC Terminal Services Co. (SabTank) and Senior Manager at Arabian Petrochemical Company (Petrokemya).

He holds a degree in chemical engineering and serves on the board of several companies and charitable foundations.

A professional nuclear engineer with diverse International appointments. Currently at ENGIE SA (FORMERLY GDF SUEZ) worked as the Acting CEO, and Director Operational Projects Middle East Africa South East Asia for a year and 9 months during which a growth strategy was deployed, was Head of Business Development and CEO of Middle East for 9 months where he opened the Middle East Office in Dubai. And CEO, United Power Company, Muscat for almost 2 years. Earlier worked at Westinghouse Nuclear International for 6 years in Belgium and Sweden where he held several management positions. Early education, he earned as Masters in Nuclear Engineering, MBA and executive development program in Belgium. He received the award Chevalier De l’Ordre de Leopold, Belgium, 2013

Mr. Lucas Hautvast began his career with Nedlloyd Lines, a container shipping company, for which he worked in various countries in commercial roles across Europe (France / Portugal / UK and the Netherlands) and Asia (Hong Kong and South Korea). In 2001 he switched to the power industry when he joined ENGIE. With ENGIE he worked as Chief Commercial Officer in The Netherlands and the Philippines, as Head of Strategy and Sales in Bangkok for the Asia Pacific region and as regional CEO for the Middle East, South Asia and Africa region. Mr. Hautvast has extensive experience in Merchant power markets, PPA markets, Strategy, M&A and organizational management.

Mr. Hautvast holds a MBA of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands and sits on the Board of several power and utility companies owned and operated by ACWA Power.

Mr. Paul Evans

An engineer officer, working as a Station Manager - Drax Power Station on a 4000MW Biomass/Co for six months, Operations Director - Carlton Power Ltd for 7 months responsible for supporting the development of projects within the Carlton portfolio. Then he worked 9 years at COO – UK/Europe Engie/International Power Plc responsible for the Technical, Financial and HSE performance of a Europe-wide portfolio of power stations. Earlier he was Station Manager Deeside Power Station Director – Advanced Turbine Products LLP – USA for 3 years. Previously he was the General Manager Humber Power Limited for 9 years. Very early appointments as Station Manager and Utility Manager for electric power stations in various locations including UK for 4 years. He developed his career and worked as a Marine Engineer Officer for 14 years as an early professional start. his education was at Merchant Navy where he became and engineer officer.
Mr. Kashif Rana

Mr. Rana has over 17 years of power and water sector experience covering all areas of project development, structuring, project financing, security offering and other areas of operational finance and tax structuring. Before becoming CFO at ACWA Power, Mr. Rana was Director of Accounting, Controls & Taxation at ACWA Power and CFO for AES Middle East Region. Mr. Rana is a Chartered Accountant who qualified in 2001 from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Mr. AlSudais brings a wide-range of experience in Human Capital and recruitment to NOMAC’s portfolio. Prior to this latest appointment, Mr. AlSudias was Vice President of Human Capital at ACWA Power.

Mr. AlSudais lead the Human Capital & Talent function in addition to the Marketing & Communications function, and contributed to building a strong human resource base and an institutionalized environment and culture with the highest levels of professionalism and efficiency.

Prior to joining ACWA Power, Mr. AlSudais served as the General Manager - Human Resource at The Saudi British Bank. Prior to that, he worked with National Air Services, Riyadh as CEO and with the Saudi Research and Publishing Co, Riyadh as Deputy Managing Director.

Abid Hussain Malik

Board Member

Abid Malik is a Mechanical Engineer by profession with over 20 years of intense and valuable experience in Power Sector, Business Development, Design, Construction, Operations as well as Project Management with AES, Engro Power (Former Exxon) and ACWA Power from functional line management positions to senior leadership roles. Abid has been extensively involved in major power transactions both in PPA  & Merchant Market sectors in various parts of the world during his professional career.

Abid is currently serving as Vice President Portfolio Management for ACWA Power’s KSA Portfolio and he sits on the Board of several power and utility companies owned and operated by ACWA Power.
